On Saturday, April 28, 2018 the Rolling Meadows Police Department will be participating once again in the National Take-Back initiative. On this date the Rolling Meadows Police Department will coordinate their efforts with other law enforcement agencies across the country in an effort to remove potentially dangerous controlled substances from homes.

The National Take-Back initiative will provide the public an opportunity to surrender expired, unwanted, or unused pharmaceutical controlled substances and other medications. Rates of prescription drug abuse in the U.S. are alarmingly high. More Americans currently abuse prescription drugs than the number of those using cocaine, hallucinogens, and heroin combined. Studies show that a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends, including from the home medicine cabinet.

On Saturday April 28, 2018 participants may dispose of their medication at the Rolling Meadows Police Department located at 3600 Kirchoff Rd., Rolling Meadows, Illinois. Collections will be accepted from 10:00 am through 2:00 pm. Liquid products, intra-venous solutions, and syringes will not be accepted. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.
