Rolling Meadows police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 8:32 AM Wednesday November 28, 2018 to a report of an Activated Fire Alarm at Willow Bend Elementary School, 4700 Barker Ave Rolling Meadows, Il. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report of an Activated Fire Alarm followed by a report of smoke from Room 130. Engineering personnel from Willow Bend Elementary School reported that smoke was from a “blower” motor or “blown” motor that they extinguished with a fire extinguisher in Room 130 by 8:38 a.m.

Firefighters confirmed the fire was out by 8:41 a.m. with smoke reported in the room and in the main area near the room.

Children were evacuated to the outside of the school with the Activated Fire Alarm notification. Firefighters and school staff immediately began working to shelter students in the gymnasium by 8:41 a.m.

All children were observed and counted for proper attendance as they were re-established indoors in the gymnasium.

The room, located at the back of the school building, was ventilated by firefighters. The entire school was also ventilated with the school’s exhaust fans.
